Nilcarbon was built differently

A model designed for climate and community together.

Nilcarbon was founded on deep market expertise and authentic Sri Lankan connection.

Co-founded by two brothers of Sri Lankan heritage, the story began in 2004 in the aftermath of the Indian Ocean tsunami, when they helped rebuild a children's orphanage in Sri Lanka. What started as humanitarian support grew into years of trusted relationships and long-term collaboration with local organisations working at the heart of underserved communities.

Together with deeply-established implementation partners, we have built a new model for carbon offsetting - one designed not only to reduce emissions, but to deliver lasting social impact for the communities making climate action possible.

We deploy clean energy solutions across underserved communities in Sri Lanka, reducing emissions while improving household health, lowering fuel costs, and expanding access to new opportunities.

Reinvesting Back Into Communities

Unlike traditional carbon projects, 50% of project-level profits are reinvested directly into the communities where the projects operate.
